Time for reflection - using reflective tiles in your home

Tiles are a hugely popular choice for covering the walls and floors of your home, from an aesthetic as well as a practical point of view. As we’ve discussed many times on this blog, tiles can enhance the look and feel of just about any space as well as being durable and easy to clean.

Reflective tiles with glossy surfaces exist in most of our ranges and are always popular do to their clever ability to bounce light around a room and to enhance the feeling of space. A clever tactic in small kitchens, for example, is to use a mirror tile (or one with a super shiny surface) as a splashback on the wall. In the same way that interior designers encourage us to hang oversize mirrors to make rooms feel larger, reflective tiles will allow light to refract around the room, as well as creating a sense of space by mirroring your surroundings.

If mirror tiles aren't for you, there are a number of different tiles that will create the same feel. Clear glass tiles in large formats will mimic a sense of space without grout lines to distract the eye. Highly polished natural stone offers the same light bouncing benefits but in a more subtle way, thanks to its softer pattern caused by naturally occurring variations in the surface of the stone.

Plain tiles in deep hues will add drama, if you favour inky tones. The added benefit of dark tiles in a glossy finish is that whatever you pair them with will instantly pop. You could use this as an opportunity to introduce accents of gorgeous colour.
